Suck It And See, Arctic Monkeys (2011)
The long wait has been worth it, Suck It And See, the forth album of Arctic Monkeys is full of surprises but also a lot different from Humbug, where the songs were more connected, SIAS is the evolution of Alex Turner and his lyrics mixed up with guitar solos, underrated basslines and noisy drum. This record id a no-break off record, despite the fact that itìs really influenced by Submarine's soundtracks written by the same Turner, even the last song could be the starting track, meaning an no-end album.
The psychedelic intro sounds at the beginning, the drum is like a waterfall, She's Thunderstorms has a classic psychedelic guitar riff that even if t gets repeated for all the song you can't get enough, after, Black Treacle tells a romantic story underneath the stars. Romantic stories will end soon, with riffs and riffs Brick By Brick will stole your soul, and rock'n'roll with it. The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala is the anthem of the album opening with that epic bassline, you'll be transported at the coastline of some american big city singing and screaming the "Shalalala" out, you won't give a sh*t about the rest of the song. We know Alex and his passion for the dancing shoes, it never gets old, or maybe yes? The song All My Own Stunts sound best at the end: rhythm and shoes don't get along well this time, though.
Merry-go-rounds, the sea, the night, the serenade, a reckless one and here we go again with being in love, poor Alex, he sings with a fantastic bassline that, unfortunately, gets surpassed by the suffocating drum too early, anyway the outro of Reckless Serenade seems to be pretty matching with every instrument. In Piledriver Waltz, we are in the middle of Submarine, again dancing and again shoes, by the time the end of the album come closer riffs are disappearing and on the other hand the sound is getting softer.
The following part of Piledriver Waltz is Love Is A Laserquest, right after, Turner is changing completely his voice and he " can't think anything to dream about ". For the great ending, the voice raises up a little bit, at the end of the romantic story told in Black Treacle has a second part in Suck It And See where he's the heartbreaker. At the very, very very ending, the second anthem of this album is coming up to finish and wrap up this masterpiece, which last one minute and forty seconds are brilliant, and if you were thinking that this album wouldn't worth those twenty-two bugs, you'll guess " That's Where You're Wrong" .
